veritree partnership
Helping shape a better future has always been at the core of Serious, to help maintain those goals we work with different partners around the world. Since January we started working with veritree as our main tree-planting partner to continue making a restorative difference in the world.
veritree is a data-driven, restorative platform that connects nature-based solutions with mission-driven companies ready to lead the restorative economy. With on-the-ground monitoring and blockchain verification, veritree improves transparency and trust through data and tools that revitalise ecosystems, strengthen communities, and build climate solutions.
Why the change?
We want to be as transparent as possible on the impact we are making together. This partnership will allow us to show you where our trees are being planted and when. Through this partnership, we ensure the right trees are planted in the right place and the trees, once planted, are staying on the ground as intended.

Where are trees being planted?
We will continue planting trees in different parts of the world, our focus will be on Kenya. Coastal Kenya is one of the least developed regions of the country. These communities are dependent on the mangrove ecosystems for employment, livelihood, and nutrition.
Mangroves are recognised as one of the world’s most productive ecosystems, playing crucial roles ecologically, physically, economically, and socially. Ecologically, mangroves provide a habitat and breeding ground for marine fauna, including fish. In addition, they sequester about five times more carbon than tropical forests. Research shows that mangrove sediments together with the roots are estimated to hold approximately 6.4 billion tons of carbon and capture about 30 million tons every year, and therefore are suitable for mitigating climate change.
The goal of this partnership with veritree and their planting partner on the ground, EarthLungs, is to empower the impoverished coastal community to break the poverty cycle. In restoring the mangrove estuary, which is rich in biodiversity, this project will provide fishing grounds for local people, creating additional income streams. The restored forest will help stabilise the coastlines to protect the land during tropical storms.
